Tottenham Reject Everton's Bid for Richarlison

Tottenham Hotspur have turned down an offer from Everton for Richarlison, holding firm on a valuation that has put the Brazilian’s return to Merseyside on pause.

Richarlison is understood to be keen on rejoining Everton, but Spurs believe the proposal from Goodison Park fell well short of their asking price. Tottenham are thought to want at least £35 million before they even consider letting the forward leave.

The 29-year-old knows Everton well. He spent four seasons there, becoming a crowd favourite, before Spurs paid around £60m to bring him to north London in 2022. Now, two years on, the prospect of a reunion has moved from fantasy to genuine possibility — but only if the numbers add up.

Under Roberto De Zerbi, Richarlison has featured regularly in pre-season, yet his place suddenly looks less secure. De Zerbi is targeting Liverpool’s Cody Gakpo and Manchester City winger Savinho to bolster his attack. If both arrive, Richarlison would slide down the pecking order under the Italian, turning a potential exit from an option into a looming reality.

Everton's Interest

Everton manager David Moyes wants attacking reinforcements and knows exactly what Richarlison can bring. The Brazilian produced some of the sharpest football of his career in blue, often dragging the Toffees through difficult spells with his work rate and edge in the final third. It is no surprise his name keeps circling around Finch Farm every summer.

But sentiment does not pay transfer fees. For Everton to have any realistic chance of bringing him back, they will have to hit Tottenham’s price. Spurs have already shown this window that they will not be pushed into cut-price deals.

Previous Attempts

Everton previously tried to sign Djed Spence from Tottenham, tabling a £25m offer for the England defender. Spurs refused to budge, and Spence instead joined Inter Milan in a £30m move that also included a 10 per cent sell-on clause. The message from north London was clear then, and it has not changed now.

Complicating Everton’s pursuit is the fact Richarlison is not short of admirers. Other clubs are tracking his situation, ready to move if Spurs soften or if Everton hesitate.

If the Toffees truly want their former talisman back leading the line at Goodison, they will have to do what they could not manage with Spence: pay Tottenham’s price and move first.
