Wrexham Prepares for Preston After Home Loss to West Brom

Phil Parkinson, manager of Wrexham, acknowledged the tough aftermath of their home defeat against West Bromwich Albion in the Championship. The team lost 2-1 despite an early lead thanks to a remarkable strike from Kieffer Moore.

Match Recap

  • Score: Wrexham 1 - 2 West Bromwich Albion
  • Wrexham's Goal: Kieffer Moore (30-yard strike)
  • West Brom Goals: Isaac Price, substitute Aune Heggebø (both scored in the final 11 minutes)

The late comeback by West Brom ended their three-game winless streak and denied Wrexham consecutive home victories for the first time since February.

Manager’s Response

Parkinson urged his squad to regroup quickly ahead of their next match at the Racecourse Ground against bottom-placed Preston North End.

"When you lose a game at home, it's time to batten down the hatches and come out strong as a group, and that's what we're going to do at the weekend," Parkinson said. "I'm sure we'll take criticism for the defeat, that's inevitable and we totally accept that. But there's a lot of resilience at that training ground and we're going to show it in the build-up to Preston."

He admitted the loss was especially tough given how close the game seemed.

"When you lose in that manner, it's obviously harder, isn't it? Because the lads could feel it, the game was there for us. No one's going to feel sorry for us in football. We've got to find a solution, look at the game and see which areas we can improve."

Kieffer Moore’s Impact

Parkinson commended Moore for his spectacular goal that gave Wrexham the lead midway through the second half.

"Goals like that deserve to be part of a winning performance," he said. "It was a brilliant goal and that's four he's scored this season, plus a few assists. He's had a really strong start and has scored various types of goals."

Moore was substituted soon after scoring to protect him after playing the full 90 minutes in the recent 1-1 draw against Derby County.

"He played his first full game in a while at the weekend and we went with him again, but we've got to protect him to a certain degree," Parkinson added.
