Adam Jackson Leaves Lincoln City but Continues Training

Adam Jackson’s six-year spell at Lincoln City is over, but he has not walked away from the club just yet.

The 32-year-old defender has had his contract terminated by mutual consent after being told earlier in the summer he would not be part of the Imps’ 25-man squad for this season. A move away failed to materialise before the transfer window shut, leaving both player and club to find a different solution.

They have found an unusual one. Jackson will continue to train with the first-team squad of the Championship side while he searches for a new club, a gesture that underlines how highly he is regarded at Sincil Bank.

Jackson joined Lincoln six years ago and became a fixture in the side, racking up 179 appearances in all competitions. This campaign, though, he has been on the fringes. His only outing came in late August, in the Carabao Cup win at Blackpool.

Sporting director Jez George said the decision to keep Jackson around day to day reflects the bond between the player and the club, and Lincoln’s desire to support him through the next phase of his career.

George described it as an example of how they “will do anything to help Jacko with what comes next in his career”, adding that the arrangement “shows the respect both parties have for each other”.

So Jackson now trains on familiar pitches, with familiar faces, while his representatives work on the next chapter. After 179 games in red and white, the separation is official on paper — but on the grass, for now, he is still very much part of Lincoln’s daily rhythm.
