AEW Grand Slam France: Will Ospreay Tops Kazuchika Okada in Paris Show
AEW held its debut event in Paris on Tuesday, October 6, treating fans at the Adidas Arena to a night packed with four championship bouts. Even though no belts switched hands, each contest brought plenty of excitement and memorable moments.
Main Event Drama: Ospreay vs. Okada
The AEW World Championship match between Will Ospreay and Kazuchika Okada lived up to expectations. Both wrestlers showcased why they are top-tier champions through their intense performances and commanding presence.
Ospreay ultimately prevailed using his signature move, the Hidden Blade, after surviving two Rainmakers from Okada. The Japanese star’s ambition cost him when he attempted a third Rainmaker, which Ospreay countered with a quick Hidden Blade while removing his elbow pad. This finisher now seems established as Ospreay’s definitive victory move, much like Kenny Omega’s One-Winged Angel. No one has ever kicked out of it, giving the Hidden Blade an aura of inevitability.
The crowd witnessed real magic as these two battled. Okada looked poised for victory until his overreach led to defeat. Next up for Ospreay is a multi-person Clockwork Carnage match at AEW WrestleDream 2026.
TNT Championship Chaos
Darby Allin defended his TNT Title against Kyle Fletcher in a chaotic match filled with wild spots. Contrary to expectations, no Eiffel Tower leap happened, but the match turned bloody near the end after Fletcher slammed Allin onto an exposed top turnbuckle with a brutal Brainbuster.
Allin locked in a Scorpion Death Lock before finishing Fletcher with two Coffin Drops. Fletcher now aims to challenge The Young Bucks for tag-team gold alongside Kevin Knight at WrestleDream, assuming the Bucks get past The Dogs on Night 2 of AEW Grand Slam France.
ROH World Title and Tag Team Rivalries
Bandido retained the ROH World Title by defeating Kofi Kingston in the opener. Kofi’s style still carries WWE influences after nearly two decades, making his AEW matches feel somewhat unusual, but the bout was solid and set the stage for a heated trios title feud.
Later, it was announced that New Level and Swerve Strickland will defend their titles against former champs Brodido and Hangman Adam Page in a Two-Out-Of-Three Falls match at WrestleDream. Their rivalry promises to be even more intense, with clear tension visible ringside.
French Fans Steal the Show
The crowd in Paris was electric from the moment the show began, reacting loudly to graphics and erupting during the main event’s opening. French wrestling fans showed up in full force, adding to the atmosphere and becoming an unofficial highlight of the evening.
AEW Grand Slam France maintained a relentless pace throughout the night, delivering non-stop action. No shock outcomes, but a consistently entertaining event that earns an 8 out of 10 from us.
