Alejandro Balde Stands Firm at Barcelona Amid Transfer Speculation
Alejandro Balde has made his stance clear. He wants to stay at Barcelona and fight for his place, even as the club quietly weighs up whether a sale would make financial sense before the window shuts.
Transfer specialist Fabrizio Romano reports that Barcelona have been exploring the possibility of moving the 22-year-old on in recent weeks, but only a “big proposal” from a top club would tempt them into agreeing a deal at this stage. Balde, for his part, has informed the hierarchy that his preference is to remain at Camp Nou and compete for minutes. The next move rests with the club.
United circle as Barcelona hesitate
Manchester United are among the sides who have tested the waters. Having effectively abandoned their pursuit of Lewis Hall, with Newcastle United making it clear the England international is not for sale, INEOS have been forced to scan the market for an alternative left-back to support Luke Shaw.
Balde fits the profile. Young, already seasoned at the highest level and with Champions League experience, he offers an immediate solution with long-term upside. United’s problem is the structure of any deal.
After committing £148 million upfront on a major midfield rebuild, reports suggest United are only in a position to push for a loan at this stage of the summer. That kind of proposal is unlikely to move Barcelona, especially with Balde now pushing to stay and no eye-catching fee on the table.
The pressure that had been building around a potential exit has eased. Balde has nailed his colours to the mast; unless someone arrives with serious money, Barcelona have every reason to keep him.
INEOS look elsewhere as clock ticks
With the Balde route complicated, INEOS are keeping other options warm. Racing Santander’s Jorge Salinas and RB Leipzig captain David Raum are both on the shortlist as United look to solve their left-back depth issue before the deadline.
Time is the enemy. Any late move for Salinas or Raum would also require their clubs to find replacements, adding another layer of difficulty to already tight negotiations.
While the full-back search drags on, United have at least completed their midfield overhaul. Carlos Baleba was officially unveiled as a Manchester United player on Tuesday evening, though he will miss the opening stretch of the season after suffering an ankle ligament injury in pre-season. He joins Andrey Santos and Youri Tielemans in a revamped engine room for Michael Carrick’s side.
