Alisson Fined £8,000 for Incident at Anfield

Alisson has been hit with an £8,000 fine for kicking the fourth official’s electronic board near the Anfield tunnel after Liverpool’s 2-2 draw with Nottingham Forest.

The Liverpool goalkeeper lashed out at the equipment as he left the pitch at full-time on Saturday, with footage quickly circulating of the incident. The board, used to show added time and substitutions, bore the brunt of his frustration.

That anger had been building.

Alisson, 33, had conceded a penalty in the second half, racing off his line as Liam Delap took a quick throw-in to Neco Williams, who went down in the area. Morgan Gibbs-White converted from the spot to put Oliver Glasner’s Forest side 2-1 up.

Days later, the Key Match Incidents panel ruled the penalty should not have been awarded. The decision only sharpened the sense of injustice around the moment.

Tension had already been simmering over the malfunctioning substitution board. With the score at 1-1, Liverpool tried repeatedly to make changes, but the equipment failed. The ball went out of play three times, yet the Reds still couldn’t get their substitutes on. Forest then capitalised, winning the controversial spot-kick in the next phase of play.

An FA spokesperson confirmed Alisson had accepted a misconduct charge, after it was alleged he “acted in an improper manner around the tunnel area”.

The fine draws a line under the flashpoint. The debate over the penalty – and the role of those chaotic few minutes – will linger a lot longer.
