Anthony Martial Set for Surprising Move to Málaga CF

Anthony Martial is closing in on a surprise move to Málaga CF, with the Spanish club reportedly on the verge of signing the 30-year-old forward, according to Foot Mercato.

A free agent since his contract with CF Monterrey was terminated, the former Manchester United striker has been hunting for a new stage to relaunch a career that once promised superstardom. Spain now looks set to be that stage. Currently 18th in La Liga and fighting to drag themselves clear of trouble, Málaga are offering Martial not just a contract, but a central role in a rescue mission.

He has already said no to two approaches from Ligue 1, turning down the chance to return to France. The message is clear: this next move is about more than comfort or nostalgia.

And it was not only Europe that came calling. Libyan side Al-Ittihad Tripoli, fresh from landing Moroccan winger Sofiane Boufal (32), pushed hard to add Martial to their ambitious project. They did not hold back. The club’s hierarchy reportedly tabled an eye-watering proposal: a net salary of 10 million euros over two years, plus a 5 million euro signing bonus.

Fifteen million euros on the table. Tax-free. For a player currently without a club.

Martial is understood to have turned it down.

Instead of chasing the biggest cheque, he appears set on a move that offers a genuine sporting project, regular top-flight football and the chance to matter again at the sharp end of a major European league. If the deal with Málaga is completed, it will say plenty about where his priorities now lie – and about a club gambling that a fallen star still has one more big act left in him.
