Anthony Musaba Joins Norwich City on Loan

Anthony Musaba has sealed a season-long loan move to Norwich City, reuniting with head coach Philippe Clement and giving the Championship club a much-needed injection of pace on the left flank.

The 25-year-old joins from Fenerbahce on a straight loan, with the Turkish club agreeing to cover a portion of his salary. Norwich explored the possibility of inserting a purchase option, but with Musaba tied to a lucrative deal until 2030, the numbers never stacked up for a permanent commitment.

This was not a luxury signing. It was a response.

Ali Ahmed’s long-term knee ligament injury, suffered in the final pre-season friendly against Osasuna, forced City back into the market for a winger. Musaba becomes the fifth senior arrival of the summer, following headline £8m signing Andre Brooks, who will operate on the opposite flank.

Musaba, a right-footer who prefers to attack from the left, arrived in England on Monday night to complete his medical and finalise personal terms. He will wear the number 49 shirt.

He already knows what awaits him in the Championship. During a previous spell at Sheffield Wednesday, Musaba produced 23 goal contributions in 80 games for the Owls, a body of work that convinced Norwich he can handle the grind of a 46-game campaign.

"I’m really happy and excited to be here. I spoke to a lot of clubs, but I really wanted to make what I felt like was the perfect move," Musaba told the club’s official channels.

"I got a really good feeling when I spoke to the people at this club. I know the coach too, so that was also a really big boost.

"I remember him (Philippe Clement) from my time at Monaco – I came from a loan spell and played a lot of that pre-season with him.

"He was always helping me, making me better, both as a person and player.

"I know the league already. I’ve experienced it and know how tough it is, but I feel like I’ve made a lot of progression since then. There are a lot of games to look forward to and I can’t wait to get going."

For Clement, the deal is as much about trust as it is about tactics. The pair worked closely at Monaco, and Norwich’s sporting director Ben Knapper believes that familiarity will accelerate Musaba’s impact.

"I’m delighted to welcome Anthony and his family to Norwich City," Knapper said.

"We feel he is a great fit for us and his profile really suits the demands of both our team and the league more broadly.

"He is quick, powerful, direct and arrives with lots of experience throughout Europe and in the Championship specifically.

"We’re all excited to work with him this season and I’ve no doubt that he’ll play a key role in pushing us towards our targets."

Norwich wanted a winger who could run at defenders, carry a threat and slot straight into Clement’s aggressive, front-foot blueprint. In Musaba, they have backed a player who knows the league, knows the coach, and now has a point to prove in English football’s most unforgiving division.
