Arsenal Targeting Oskar Pietuszewski for Left Wing Reinforcement
Arsenal are lining up a bold move for FC Porto starlet Oskar Pietuszewski as the club prepare for a potential shake-up on the left wing this summer.
The 17-year-old Poland international has rocketed onto the radar at the Emirates after a blistering start to life in Portugal, and Arsenal are reportedly ready to test Porto’s resolve with a sizeable offer.
Left wing in flux
Right now, Mikel Arteta has two established options on the left: Leandro Trossard and Gabriel Martinelli. That picture could change quickly.
Sporting director Andrea Berta is understood to be open to selling Martinelli if a £50 million bid lands on the table, according to TEAMtalk. At the same time, Football Transfers report that Trossard has attracted serious interest from Napoli, with the Belgian tempted by a switch from North London to Naples.
So Arsenal are planning ahead. The left flank, a key part of Arteta’s attacking structure, may need rebuilding in one window.
Pietuszewski on Arsenal’s radar
Into that context steps Pietuszewski. Sports Boom report that Arsenal have been so impressed with the Porto winger that they are prepared to offer around €40 million (£34.6m) for him.
The London club view him as an ideal fit for Arteta’s young, aggressive, technically sharp squad. One line from the report underlines the mood in North London: Arsenal “see Pietuszewski as a perfect fit” and are “whispered” to be ready to knock on Porto’s door with an opening bid in that region.
Pietuszewski only joined Porto from Jagiellonia Białystok in January 2026 and is tied down until 2029. He has wasted no time making an impact: three goals and four assists in 15 games across all competitions have been enough to alert some of Europe’s biggest clubs.
The Porto wall
There is a problem. Porto do not intend to roll over.
Sports Boom state that the Portuguese giants will not consider selling the teenager for less than the €60m (£52m) release clause currently written into his contract. On top of that, they plan to move quickly once he turns 18, offering an improved deal and pushing that clause up to somewhere between €80m and €100m (up to £86.6m).
If Arsenal want him, the price is only going one way.
Heavyweight competition
And they are not alone.
Chelsea and Manchester City have been tracking Pietuszewski closely. City are even weighing up a buy-and-loan-back strategy, signing him now and sending him straight back to Porto for another season of development.
Bayern Munich are in the mix as well, while Borussia Dortmund have also been strongly linked. The Bundesliga side are said to be especially enamoured with his explosive style, reportedly describing his pace and ability in transition as “flawless”.
This is not a quiet tug-of-war. It is a full-scale scramble for one of Europe’s most exciting young wide players.
Arsenal’s split focus
While Berta and the recruitment team map out a summer that could see major movement on the wings, Arteta’s attention is locked on the here and now.
Arsenal sit three points clear of Manchester City at the top of the Premier League, but Pep Guardiola’s side hold a game in hand and remain favourites in many eyes to retain their crown.
On the continent, Arsenal face Atletico Madrid in the Champions League semi-finals, with the first leg in Spain on Wednesday. The stakes could hardly be higher.
Titles now, rebuild later. Somewhere between those two timelines, the future of the left flank at the Emirates will be decided — and whether Oskar Pietuszewski becomes the next big piece in Arteta’s evolving puzzle.
