Barcelona Faces €70 Million Demand for Bastoni from Inter

Barcelona have been warned: if they want Alessandro Bastoni this summer, they will have to pay full price.

Inter Milan have placed a firm €70 million tag on the centre-back and, according to Corriere della Sera via FCInter1908, have no intention of budging. No discounts, no creative formulas. Cash or nothing.

For a club still wrestling with financial constraints, that figure represents a major sacrifice for Barcelona. The Catalans had sensed an opportunity in Italy, reading Bastoni’s difficult moment with a section of Serie A fans as a possible opening. The idea was clear – exploit the noise around him, test Inter’s resolve, and try to land an elite left-sided defender on favorable terms.

That plan has run into a wall.

At San Siro, Bastoni’s standing inside the club remains untouched. He is 26, entering what should be the prime of his career, and still regarded as a cornerstone of Simone Inzaghi’s back line. Form may fluctuate, criticism may rise and fall, but Inter see him as non-negotiable.

The contract situation only strengthens their hand. Bastoni is tied to Inter until 2028, giving the Nerazzurri a long runway and zero urgency to sell. They can set the price and wait. Any negotiation starts at €70m and, from their perspective, that is already the compromise.

Crucially for Inter, the player is not pushing for the exit. Bastoni has not asked to leave and is even open to signing a new deal, a stance that removes the usual leverage buying clubs look for when trying to force a discount. There is no public tension, no countdown to free agency, no threat of losing him for nothing.

Barcelona, then, face a familiar dilemma. Do they stretch an already fragile budget to meet Inter’s valuation, or walk away from a defender who fits the profile they crave? Left-footed, comfortable on the ball, experienced at the highest level – Bastoni is exactly the type of player who could anchor their back line for years.

But Inter have made the equation brutally simple. If Barcelona truly want him at Camp Nou, they will have to prove it the hard way – by paying the full €70 million.
