Barrow Clear Backroom Staff After Relegation

The clear-out at Barrow is gathering pace. A day after chief executive Iain Wood’s exit was confirmed, five more key figures from the club’s backroom staff have followed him out of the door in the wake of relegation from League Two.

• Goalkeeping coach Ali Uzunhasanoglu
• Head of medical Karly Bland

have all left their roles with immediate effect.

It is a brutal reset, but not a surprising one. The Bluebirds’ drop into the National League was sealed by a 2-1 defeat to Newport County on Saturday, a result that finally ended a grim battle against the slide.

The owners had already promised change for next season. This, they say, is part of a broader process of “resetting and realigning” the club after a campaign that exposed deep flaws on and off the pitch.
