Bayern Munich Set to Make Michael Olise Highest-Paid Player

Bayern Munich are ready to put their money where their mouth is over Michael Olise.

The German champions want to hand the French winger a new contract that would make him the highest-paid player at the club, a clear statement that they see the 24-year-old as the face of their future. This despite the fact his current deal already runs until 2029.

According to French outlet L'Équipe, Bayern’s hierarchy are preparing an extension designed not just to reward Olise’s impact since his arrival from Crystal Palace in the summer of 2024, but to lock him in as a long-term pillar of their project. The club are prepared to go beyond the salaries currently commanded by Harry Kane and Jamal Musiala to get it done.

In April 2026, Kane and Musiala sat at the top of Bayern’s wage bill on around 2.1 million euros per month. Behind them came Manuel Neuer on 1.75 million euros, with Joshua Kimmich and Dayot Upamecano each earning about 1.66 million euros. Olise’s new deal would leapfrog all of them.

The move underlines just how quickly the France international has become indispensable in Munich. Since swapping south London for Bavaria, Olise has been one of Bayern’s standout performers, bringing goals, creativity and a constant threat from the flank. The club view him as a cornerstone to build around, and they are ready to pay like it.

Olise had long been linked with a dream move to Real Madrid, and that possibility has hovered in the background. For now, though, Bayern are confident he will stay in Germany for at least another season, convinced that they can offer the perfect platform for his development.

L'Équipe report that Olise has settled superbly in Munich, helped by a strong bond with coach Vincent Kompany. The Belgian has entrusted him with major responsibility and, in return, Olise has elevated his game to another level, justifying Bayern’s aggressive stance over his future.

One key change is expected in any new agreement. While his original contract did not contain a release clause, an extension would likely include one, giving both player and club a clearer framework for any future negotiations.
