Benjamin Sesko has barely unpacked in Manchester, but his name is still echoing around the corridors of power at Bayern Munich.
The Slovenian striker arrived at Old Trafford last summer in a £74million move from RB Leipzig and quietly put together the kind of debut season that makes recruitment departments feel vindicated: 12 goals, many of them off the bench, and a growing sense that he belongs on the biggest stage. Not explosive, not yet era-defining, but enough to demand more starts in his second year.
And yet, his future keeps being dragged into someone else’s storyline.
Bayern’s long look at Sesko

There is, however, a new wrinkle in the plan.
Ismael Saibari has arrived, and his signing could reshape Bayern’s attacking blueprint. The club see him as a potential solution in the very role Sesko was once earmarked for. Now, there is a suggestion that Saibari could be trialled as the man up top, with Kane operating in behind. It’s a bold tweak, given Saibari’s history as an attacking midfielder, but it underlines Bayern’s determination to future-proof their attack without immediately plunging into another huge striker deal.
The concept hasn’t gone away. It has just been delayed, re-routed, tested with different pieces.

That resolve has already been tested. Barcelona and Atletico Madrid both sounded out Sesko’s intermediaries to explore whether a deal might be possible. Those conversations went nowhere. United shut it down.
The message from Old Trafford is as firm as it gets. They paid big money, they like what they’ve seen, and they expect the next step to happen in their shirt, not someone else’s.
