Bournemouth Signs Michele Di Gregorio on Loan from Juventus
Bournemouth have underlined their ambition with the capture of Michele Di Gregorio from Juventus, landing an experienced Serie A goalkeeper on an initial loan that could turn into a long-term stay on the south coast.
The 29-year-old arrives at the Vitality Stadium on a one-year deal, giving Andoni Iraola an immediate injection of top-level pedigree in goal as the club look to push on in the Premier League.
“I’m very happy to be here. This is a very important moment for me and that's why I think the decision to come here to Bournemouth was the right one,” Di Gregorio said after the move was confirmed. “I felt the club's desire to have me here and I felt the ambition that this club has to continue to grow and do great things. The Premier League is the most beautiful league in the world. It's an honour for me to be here and to have the chance to play and play at such a high level.”
A deal built on options and incentives
Juventus did not hide from the numbers. The Italian club confirmed Bournemouth have paid €1.3 million for the season-long loan, guaranteeing the Bianconeri an immediate return as they reshape their goalkeeping department.
The pressure on Di Gregorio to perform will be tangible. The agreement includes up to €800,000 in performance-related bonuses tied to his time in the Premier League, a structure that rewards both consistent selection and impact.
The real weight of the deal, though, sits beyond this season. Bournemouth hold an option to buy at the end of the campaign for €12.7 million, payable over three financial years. On top of that, a further €1.5 million in add-ons could be triggered, turning what begins as a low-risk loan into a sizeable long-term investment if Di Gregorio convinces in England.
Tiago Pinto’s first big goalkeeping move
Inside the club, the signing is being treated as a statement. For Bournemouth director Tiago Pinto, securing Di Gregorio is a notable early victory in the market.
“Michele is a goalkeeper with excellent qualities and valuable experience at the highest level,” Pinto said, underlining why the club moved decisively to close the deal.
He pointed to the Italian’s consistency during his spell at Juventus, where every performance came under the microscope at the Allianz Stadium. “He has consistently demonstrated his ability in Serie A and in European competitions, and we believe he will be an excellent addition to our squad,” the director added.
For a Bournemouth side intent on tightening up and building from the back, that blend of experience and composure under pressure is exactly what they have paid for.
