Cauley Woodrow Rejoins Wycombe Wanderers: Key Forward for Next Season

Wycombe Wanderers have made their move permanent. The club have re-signed forward Cauley Woodrow from League One rivals Luton Town for an undisclosed fee, banking on the man who quietly became their most reliable finisher last season.

At 31, Woodrow arrives with Premier League and Championship experience on his CV, but his time at Luton never truly caught fire. Six goals in 79 appearances tell the story of a player used more as an impact option than a focal point, most of those outings coming from the bench.

Wycombe saw something different.

Loaned to Adams Park for last season, Woodrow found rhythm, responsibility and, crucially, the net. Twelve goals in 40 games made him the club’s top scorer, a return that turned a short-term fix into an obvious long-term target.

This wasn’t just about goals, though. Wycombe’s director of football strategy and data intelligence, Tom Stockwell, highlighted exactly why the club pushed to keep him.

“He (Cauley) brings the technical quality to link the back to the front for us,” Stockwell told the club website, underlining Woodrow’s role as more than a penalty-box poacher. The forward drops in, knits play together, and gives Wycombe a reference point when they build attacks.

Stockwell also pointed to the forward’s influence away from the pitch, describing him as “a top professional and character in the dressing room which is important for us to keep pushing forwards.” In a League One campaign that can quickly become a grind, that kind of presence matters.

The length of Woodrow’s new deal remains under wraps, Wycombe choosing not to disclose the terms. What is clear, though, is the intent: lock in last season’s leading scorer, anchor the attack around him, and ask a proven finisher to drive the club’s next push up the table.
