Colin Dagba Signs Long-Term Deal with Carrarese
Carrarese have dipped into the free-agent market and landed a defender with serious pedigree, completing the signing of Colin Dagba after his departure from Belgian side Beerschot on July 1.
The 27-year-old right-back has signed a long-term deal running until June 30, 2028, with an automatic extension clause tied to specific performance targets. For a club fighting to gain a foothold in Serie B, it is a statement move: a former France Under-21 international arriving with top-level experience and a point to prove.
From Paris lights to Tuscan rebuild
Dagba comes to Carrara with a CV few in the division can match. Raised in the demanding environment of Paris Saint-Germain, he made 77 senior appearances for the French giants across all competitions, including seven outings in the Champions League. During his spell at the Parc des Princes, he collected three Ligue 1 titles, two Coupe de France trophies and two Trophee des Champions wins before loan spells at Strasbourg and Auxerre.
Carrarese wasted no time underlining exactly what they think they have secured. In their official announcement, the club highlighted the former PSG defender’s blend of technique and athleticism, describing the French right-back, born in 1998, as a player with “impressive attacking ability, pace, and prowess in attacking play.”
They were just as keen to stress that he is not a luxury full-back who only comes alive in the opposition half, adding that he remains “consistently alert and consistent in defense, especially in marking.”
For head coach Gabriele Cioffi, it is the kind of profile that can reshape a back line. Dagba offers energy on the flank, the capacity to push high and stretch games, and the calm of someone who has lived through title races and Champions League nights.
A timely boost for a slow start
The timing feels significant. Carrarese sit 14th in the Serie B table, with only one point from their opening two league fixtures. The early signs have been scratchy, the performances uneven. They need solidity. They need experience. They need a lift.
Dagba could provide all three, and quickly. He is in line for an immediate debut when Carrarese host Empoli on matchday three on September 5, a home fixture that already carries weight so early in the campaign. For a side still searching for its first league win of the season, that game offers a chance to reset the tone.
