David Warner Charged with Mid-Range Drink Driving in Sydney
David Warner, one of Australian cricket’s most recognisable modern figures, has been charged with mid-range drink driving after a roadside police operation in Sydney’s eastern suburbs.
Police were conducting random breath tests on Malabar Road in Maroubra at about 5:30pm on Sunday when a van reportedly pulled up short of the testing site and parked. Officers approached the vehicle and spoke with the 39-year-old driver, who has since been confirmed as Warner.
He was given a roadside breath test, which returned a positive result. Warner was then arrested and taken to Maroubra Police Station for further testing.
A subsequent breath analysis allegedly produced a reading of 0.104, placing it in the mid-range drink-driving category under New South Wales law.
Warner has been charged with mid-range drink driving and is scheduled to appear in court in May.
The left-handed opener, who retired from international cricket in 2024, remains active in domestic T20 competitions and has continued to play in the Big Bash League.
