Eiran Cashin Out for Eight Weeks—Derby County Faces Setback

Derby County have been dealt a major blow with defender Eiran Cashin set to miss around two months after suffering a calf injury.

The 22-year-old only returned to Pride Park at the start of the month, rejoining on loan from Brighton for the rest of the season. A homegrown product who racked up 144 appearances in his first spell with the Rams, his comeback was meant to anchor Derby’s defence for the run-in.

Instead, it has been cut short almost as soon as it began.

Cashin went straight into John Eustace’s side, starting the defeats to West Brom and Birmingham and playing close to the full 90 minutes in both games. His absence from the squad against Burnley raised eyebrows, and the reason has now been made painfully clear.

“Cash is out now for about eight weeks, he’s done his calf,” Eustace told BBC Radio Derby.

For a Derby side trying to steady themselves under a new manager and integrate a familiar face back into the back line, it is a harsh setback. Cashin’s physical presence, left-footed balance and deep knowledge of the club were central to the plan.

Now Eustace must redraw that plan on the fly.
