Gary Neville has voiced his belief that Arsenal's defensive strength sets them apart as the favorites for the Premier League this season. Despite recent wins by Manchester United and a revived Chelsea, Neville feels that Mikel Arteta’s squad is on another level defensively, making them tough to beat.

Neville highlighted Arsenal’s recruitment of defenders, noting how the club has assembled a strong lineup at the back. He mentioned players like Ezri Konsa joining an already impressive roster including Jurrien Timber, Ben White, Cristhian Mosquera, William Saliba, Gabriel Magalhaes, Piero Hincapie, Riccardo Calafiori, and Myles Lewis-Skelly.

"It’s incredible what Arsenal have done really, to sign Ezri Konsa, because they’ve got eight amazing defenders and now they’ve signed another really good centre-half. It’s almost like they’re doubling down and saying, ‘We’re not going to concede goals, we’re just going to make sure we’re better than everyone else defensively by a million miles’ - and they are. That will win them a title again."

He added that if you compare front players, Arsenal might be matched by others, but in defense and midfield, their quality stands above rivals like Manchester United, Liverpool, and Chelsea.

Neville expressed doubts about the defensive consistency of other teams. Chelsea’s win over Brighton came with a shaky performance where they nearly lost a three-goal advantage. United leaned heavily on Bruno Fernandes in a 5-2 match, which to Neville signals some instability.

"They had to bring in a new goalkeeper, Emiliano Martinez, who brings a big personality. But looking at Chelsea’s defenders like Levi Colwill, Maxence Lacroix, and Wesley Fofana, I see talented individuals but not a solid unit."

He praised Arsenal’s back-four of Timber, Calafiori, Saliba, and Gabriel with David Raya in goal, calling it the only cohesive defensive unit currently visible. Neville noted that while teams like Manchester City and Liverpool once had such units, those days seem behind them.
