Morgan Gibbs-White Called Up to England Squad as Cole Palmer Withdraws
Morgan Gibbs-White has been summoned to Thomas Tuchel's England squad, stepping in for Cole Palmer, who is withdrawing due to load management concerns.
The Nottingham Forest midfielder, 26, returns to the national team fold after Palmer’s exit was confirmed earlier this week. Gibbs-White had been on a family break in Dubai following Forest’s 1-0 loss to Coventry City in the Premier League.
Back in England now, he will join Tuchel’s squad ahead of the Three Lions' Nations League matches.
Despite a strong start to the season and netting 15 Premier League goals last term, Gibbs-White was not included in Tuchel’s initial 27-man roster. The midfielder holds six England caps, having made his senior debut in September 2024.
Cole Palmer’s Withdrawal and England’s Upcoming Fixtures
Palmer, who has tallied four goals and two assists in seven appearances for Chelsea this season, played all 90 minutes during Friday’s 3-0 defeat against Brentford but will now miss the international window.
England’s Nations League campaign begins with a home clash against world champions Spain at Wembley on Saturday. They will then face Czechia and Croatia in the extended international period.
