Harry Kane Breaks Bundesliga Record with 101 Goals
Harry Kane tore up nearly half a century of Bundesliga history on Saturday, smashing the record for the fastest player to reach 100 league goals as Bayern Munich crushed Union Berlin 7-0.
The England captain hit the milestone in just his 98th Bundesliga appearance, obliterating the old mark set by Cologne striker Dieter Müller, who needed 129 matches back in 1977. Kane has been hunting that record down ever since he landed in Germany. He finally ripped it away.
By the time the whistle went, the numbers around him sounded almost unreal. Since joining Bayern in 2023, Kane had been scoring a league goal roughly every 78.5 minutes. Across all competitions, he now stands at 152 goals in 154 games for the club, with last season’s haul alone a staggering 61 in 51 appearances.
On a wet afternoon that turned into a procession, the key moment came in the 39th minute. Bayern won a penalty, Kane placed the ball, and there was never any doubt. He hammered it home, low and ruthless, to reach the magic 100 and write his name into another corner of Bundesliga history.
Union were already reeling. The second half made it worse.
Early after the restart, Kane struck again. Michael Olise, electric all game, whipped in a cross and Kane met it with a firm header, guiding it into the net to make it 101 league goals and push Bayern into top spot before the rest of the weekend’s fixtures.
The record, though, was only half the story. Kane’s numbers overshadowed a dazzling display from Olise, who produced his first Bayern hat-trick, and Jamal Musiala, who added a goal of pure class that would have decided most matches on its own. On another day, either of them would have owned the headlines.
Kane knew exactly who had helped put him there.
“I’m very proud to have now scored 100 and 101 Bundesliga goals. I haven’t been around that long. I’ve loved every second of it,” he told Sky Germany, before turning the spotlight back on those around him. “With Michael, Lucho [Luis Díaz] and Jamal I naturally get chances and today was no exception.
“So I just want to thank the team, the club, the coach, and the staff – everyone who has helped me achieve this. Let’s keep going like this. Scoring more goals in games is obviously a big step. Of course, there have been many important goals among them. I can only say that I’m enjoying every minute of it. Just like today.”
Union were left chasing shadows, reduced to the role of unwilling extras in someone else’s milestone afternoon. Bayern, by contrast, looked every inch a side with a striker rewriting the standards of what is possible in Germany’s top flight.
Kane has already bent the numbers to his will. The question now is how far he can push them.
