Hull City Pursue Roma Starlet Robinio Vaz on Loan Deal

Hull City are closing in on a bold move for Roma forward Robinio Vaz, with the newly-promoted Premier League side working on a season-long loan that includes a sizeable option to buy.

Respected reporter David Ornstein of The Athletic claims Hull are close to agreeing a deal worth €2m for a one-year loan, with an option to make the transfer permanent for a further €30m.

For a club just stepping back into the Premier League, it is an eye-catching swing at one of Serie A’s brightest young attackers.

From Marseille breakout to Roma prospect

Vaz, 19, only joined Roma in the winter, arriving from Marseille for around €25m after a blistering start to the 2025-26 Ligue 1 campaign.

In France, he struck four goals and laid on two assists in just 14 league appearances, form that convinced Roma to move quickly in January. Once in Italy, his role changed. Used exclusively from the bench in Serie A, he still managed to add one more goal in 12 outings as he adapted to a new league and a new rhythm.

For Roma, the proposed structure makes obvious financial sense. Should Hull trigger the €30m option, the Giallorossi would bank an immediate profit on a player they signed only months ago, while also securing a loan fee up front.

Roma’s FFP tightrope

The move also drops into a wider story at Roma. All summer, the club have been linked with sales to ease financial fair play pressure, yet with the Serie A window entering its final week, no major names have gone.

Manu Kone, Wesley and Matias Soule all remain on the books. The potential Vaz deal offers Roma room to manoeuvre without sacrificing one of their established stars, and gives the teenager a platform for regular minutes in England.

For Hull, it would be a statement that they are not just in the Premier League to survive. The question now is simple: do they push this gamble all the way and make a 19-year-old their next marquee project?
