Ilyas Ansah Joins Hull City from Union Berlin: Premier League Dream
Ilyas Ansah has traded the Bundesliga for English football’s biggest stage, completing his move from Union Berlin to Hull City and calling it “a dream come true” to step into the Premier League.
The 21-year-old forward arrives with a growing reputation after an impressive campaign in Germany, where he featured in all but one of Union Berlin’s matches last season. He finished with five goals and three assists, numbers that only tell part of the story of a young attacker trusted week after week in a demanding league.
Ansah has already tasted international football with Germany’s under-20 and under-21 sides, and now he wants to test himself in what he describes as the next level of his career.
“I’m very excited. It’s a dream come true for me to play in the Premier League, and for such a big club – it’s really an honour for me,” he told the club’s media after signing. He spoke with the energy of a player who has been waiting for this step, not stumbling into it.
He has done his homework on his new surroundings too.
“I have heard a lot about the club, the players and the team, and I’m excited to play with the boys and to get to know them,” he said. The Bundesliga, he added, was already one dream ticked off. Now comes the next one.
“It was an honour and a dream playing in the Bundesliga. Now, I have another dream to play in the Premier League, and I’m going to work hard for it.”
Hull are not just buying promise; they are buying versatility. Ansah sees himself as a modern forward who can move across the front line and still carry threat.
“I’m a very flexible player. I can play almost anywhere up front – on the left side, on the right side, maybe as a 10. I’m definitely a player who always gives his best and leaves it all on the pitch.
“Taking my man on, beating players, shooting on target and scoring goals – that’s my main goal I want to reach at this club.”
Hull have started the season perfectly with two wins from two, and Ansah knows he is joining a dressing room already in motion, not one waiting to be sparked into life.
“It’s been a really exciting start to the season – two wins out of two games. Now, it’s time for me to get into the team and be a part of what they are already achieving.”
The challenge is clear: break into a winning side, prove he belongs in the Premier League, and turn that dream into something far more permanent.
