Kenneth Perez Questions Ro-Zangelo Daal Hype After Impressive Performance

Kenneth Perez is not buying into the Ro-Zangelo Daal hype just yet.

The AZ forward lit up Sunday’s 5-2 win over Go Ahead Eagles with two goals and a standout display, sparking excited reactions in the studio on ESPN’s Dit was het Weekend. Presenter Wouter Bouwman watched the footage and could feel the buzz building.

“Things are moving quickly for him,” Bouwman remarked.

Perez slammed on the brakes.

“Take it easy, man. I’m really going mad from all that nonsense about multi-talent, great talent,” the analyst snapped. “He’s a young and decent player. Let’s wait and see what it all becomes. All those superlatives about ordinary players... Calm down, please.”

No star label. No “wonderkid” tag. Not from Perez.

The conversation then shifted to Daal’s international future. Bouwman noted that the AZ attacker is already on the radar of the Curaçao national team and suggested he could still wait for a possible call from the Netherlands.

“He can also wait a bit longer for the Netherlands,” Bouwman said.

Perez’s short reply said enough: “Well…”

While Perez preaches restraint, Arie Haan is far more enthusiastic. Working as a reporter for De Telegraaf, the former Ajax and Netherlands international placed Daal straight into his Team of the Week.

“They kept trying to block off the outside. Then he just went inside,” Haan explained. “He played brilliantly. It’s good for Xavi that another winger is emerging who is developing so spectacularly.”

That “Xavi” is Netherlands head coach Xavi, who, according to Algemeen Dagblad, already has Daal on a national-team “watchlist”. He is not alone there. Fellow forwards Lucas Vennegoor of Hesselink and Shaqueel van Persie are also reportedly being monitored by the Spanish coach.

So the picture is clear: one analyst calling for calm, another pushing him into a best XI, and a national coach quietly taking notes.

For Ro-Zangelo Daal, the noise is only getting louder.
