Liverpool Faces £145m Hurdle for Barcola; Eyes Bournemouth's Rayan as Backup

Liverpool continue their efforts to sign Paris Saint-Germain winger Bradley Barcola, but the French club's steep asking price has forced the Reds to consider alternative targets. PSG’s demand of up to £145 million for the 23-year-old has complicated negotiations, pushing Liverpool to explore other options.

Barcola Remains Liverpool's First Choice

The Reds are holding ongoing discussions with PSG about Barcola, who is seen as the ideal candidate to fill the void left by Mohamed Salah. Barcola’s speed, versatility on both wings, and direct style suit head coach Andoni Iraola's tactics well. Reports suggest Liverpool is prepared to offer around €100 million for the France international, but PSG's valuation remains significantly higher.

PSG's Steep Valuation Stalls Talks

Despite Liverpool's readiness to invest heavily, PSG insists on a fee between £140 million and £145 million before considering a sale. Although Barcola is reportedly keen on moving to Anfield, this large gap in transfer value has prompted Liverpool to identify backup plans.

Prolonged negotiations could leave Liverpool short on attacking options just before the new season starts, especially since they need to add depth and unpredictability in forward positions.

Bournemouth's Rayan Emerges as Plan B

Rayan, the 20-year-old Brazilian winger from AFC Bournemouth, has surfaced as Liverpool’s main alternative if the Barcola deal falls through. The two clubs have reportedly agreed on personal terms with the player.

Rayan's familiarity with Iraola’s demanding approach, along with his pace, strength, and growth potential, make him an appealing option on the right flank. Since joining Bournemouth earlier this year, he has made a strong impact in the Premier League, contributing seven goals and assists in 15 appearances.

Additional Options Still on the Table

So far, Liverpool’s summer signings include defender Jeremy Jacquet and winger Victor Munoz, but neither fully addresses the creative and scoring gap left by Salah’s departure.

The club aims to bring in another high-level attacker to solidify their title challenge. Beyond Barcola and Rayan, Liverpool also monitors other prospects like Yankuba Minteh and Lille’s versatile forward Matias Fernandez-Pardo, continuing a thorough evaluation of potential reinforcements.
