Liverpool Eye January Moves for Lamine Camara and Tyrick Mitchell
Liverpool are weighing up a January move for Monaco midfielder Lamine Camara, with Crystal Palace left-back Tyrick Mitchell also emerging on their radar as a possible rival target to Manchester United.

Camara’s name has not gone away since a chaotic deadline day saw his proposed move to Chelsea collapse at the last moment. The 22-year-old had held lengthy talks with the London club, discussed his role, and effectively given the go-ahead to join, only for Monaco to pull the plug in the final hours of the window.
Chelsea’s interest has not cooled, but the landscape has shifted. The package they thought they had in place, worth around €55m (£47m, $63m), is gone. Any club coming back for Camara in January is now expected to pay closer to €70m (£60m, $81m).
That has not stopped Liverpool from moving into position. According to Football Insider, the Anfield hierarchy are understood to have held talks over a possible deal, with Camara firmly on their shortlist.
“Lamine Camara is a name that has been discussed behind the scenes,” Mick Brown told Football Insider, outlining the growing interest from Merseyside.
“Liverpool will be keeping an eye on how he gets on for Monaco, but there is definitely a deal to be done as we saw when he nearly joined Chelsea.
“His agent has been very outspoken about trying to get him a move, so I expect Liverpool will have held talks with him about the possibility of signing him in January.”
The pressure around Camara’s future is only likely to ramp up as the winter window approaches. Chelsea want a second shot. Liverpool are now in the conversation. Monaco, this time, will know exactly what sort of auction they can spark.
Mitchell in demand as left-back market tightens
While midfield remains a key area of focus, Liverpool are also assessing their options at left-back, where questions continue to hang over the long-term picture.
Andoni Iraola currently leans on Milos Kerkez and Kostas Tsimikas, but neither situation looks entirely settled. Kerkez has struggled to find consistent form, while Tsimikas is out of contract at the end of the season and still sits on the fringes of the side.
That uncertainty has pushed Crystal Palace defender Tyrick Mitchell into the frame. The 24-year-old has already been linked with Manchester United, and Brown believes Liverpool are among the clubs who could join the chase.
“Man United aren’t going to be the only club interested in signing Mitchell,” he said in a separate update to Football Insider.
“For any club looking for a left-back in the Premier League, there are not many options who come up with such consistent performances as Mitchell has for Crystal Palace.
“He impresses every single week, gets on with his job, he’s terrific defensively and he’s improved the attacking side of his game as well, he’s a top, top player.”
From there, the logic for the elite becomes obvious.
“So when you look at those top clubs, you’ve got Liverpool where Milos Kerkez has been questioned a bit and maybe isn’t as consistent as they’d like him to be.
“Then you’ve got Chelsea, who are always going to be interested in this type of deal where they can bring a quality player in without having to spend big.
“Either of those clubs could make a move for Mitchell, because as I say, he will tick a number of boxes for them and could be a very good addition.”
Two positions, two premium targets, and a January window creeping into view. Liverpool’s next moves will say plenty about how aggressively they plan to reshape this squad mid-season.
