Loïc Mbe Soh Joins Sparta Prague After Successful Sint-Truiden Spell

Loïc Mbe Soh is on the move again. This time, the former Paris Saint-Germain and Nottingham Forest defender is heading to Sparta Prague after a brief but eye-catching spell at Sint-Truiden.

The 25-year-old only arrived in Limburg in January, brought in as a mid-season replacement for Rein Van Helden after his switch to Antwerp. It looked like a stopgap at the time. It turned into a launchpad.

Mbe Soh slotted straight into the side, making 14 appearances as Sint-Truiden wrote a slice of club history by qualifying for European football for the first time. He has already featured twice this season, but his rise in form has come at a price for the Belgian club. Sparta Prague have stepped in, with the Czech champions paying around €3 million to take him east.

For Mbe Soh, it is another chapter in a career that has rarely stood still.

He came through the famed PSG academy, breaking into the first team for three senior appearances before leaving in 2020 in search of minutes and responsibility. Nottingham Forest offered that opportunity, but it never truly materialised. Over four seasons at the City Ground, he played just 13 games and scored once, his progress broken up by loan spells at Guingamp in France and Almere City in the Netherlands.

By 2024, his time in England was over. Forest let him go on a free, and he resurfaced at Beerschot in the Belgian Pro League. There, at last, came continuity: 52 games, a regular role, and the hard reality of relegation in his first full season. Beerschot regrouped in the second tier and pushed for promotion, with Mbe Soh a key part of that response, before Sint-Truiden came calling in the January window.

That short stint has now earned him a move to a club with regular European ambitions and a demanding fanbase. After years of loans, false starts and firefighting at struggling sides, Mbe Soh arrives in Prague with something he has not often enjoyed in his senior career: momentum.
