Díaz highlighted Kane’s all-around contributions: playmaking, running, defending, scoring goals, and even striking from long distance. The former Liverpool player emphasized Kane’s selflessness and work rate on the field.

Kane’s bid for football’s most prestigious individual award is backed by an exceptional season. He scored 73 goals and provided eight assists in 65 games across club and country. This included six goals at the 2026 World Cup, where England finished third.
This goal tally ranks as the second-best in modern football history, only behind Lionel Messi’s 82 goals in 2011-12 with Barcelona and Argentina.
“His mentality is incredible,” Díaz added. “So, for me, he’s one of the main contenders to win the Ballon d’Or. I hope he can lift it and that we can all be happy for him.”
