Manchester City insists on a total package near £70 million (approximately €81 million) plus performance-based bonuses. Even with Rodri entering the final year of his contract, City refuses to lower their valuation.

Despite the deadlock, Barcelona remain hopeful due to Rodri's enthusiasm for the move. The interest intensified following a direct call from German coach Hansi Flick, who personally outlined his vision to the midfielder. This conversation seems to have swayed Rodri, who previously hesitated because of Real Madrid's interest.

Rodri's agent, Pablo Barquero, told Spanish radio station El Larguero that the player has informed Real Madrid of his decision to join Barcelona out of respect for the rival club.
