Manchester City Signs Ayyoub Bouaddi for £85.6m
Manchester City have struck a deal worth up to £85.6m (€100m) with Lille for highly rated midfielder Ayyoub Bouaddi, in one of the standout transfers of the summer.
City will pay a guaranteed £81m (€95m) for the 18-year-old Morocco international, with the remaining value tied to performance-related add-ons. Once the final paperwork is complete, Bouaddi is expected to sign a long-term contract at the Etihad Stadium.

Bouaddi’s arrival plugs a glaring gap in the heart of City’s side after the departures of Rodri and Tijjani Reijnders. Both exits ripped out experience and control from the base of midfield; Bouaddi arrives as the new centrepiece of that rebuild, fresh from catching the eye on the World Cup stage.
His signing continues an aggressive overhaul under Maresca. City have already spent £116m on Elliot Anderson from Nottingham Forest, and the club are not done yet. Bouaddi offers a different profile – a teenager with high-end potential, recruited at a fee that underlines how central he is to the new project.
End of an era at the Etihad

Bernardo Silva, John Stones and Nathan Ake have all gone, following manager Pep Guardiola out of the door. The core of the side that dominated English football has been broken up in a single summer, leaving Maresca to shape a new identity at speed.
Savinho is set to join Tottenham, while Omar Marmoush and Nico Gonzalez – both on the bench for Sunday’s Premier League opener against Bournemouth – could also be moved on. Every departure increases the need for immediate impact from the new arrivals, and for Bouaddi to adapt quickly to the demands of the Premier League.
Big fee, bigger expectations
Bouaddi’s performances at the World Cup pushed him onto the radar of Europe’s elite, and City have now made their move. The fee, the age, the stage of City’s rebuild – all of it piles expectation onto a player who only turned 18 this year.
City are not limiting their search to one marquee signing either. The club have also been linked with Chelsea midfielder Enzo Fernandez and Palmeiras winger Allan as they look to restock both midfield and wide areas.
Bouaddi, though, is the headline act for now. In a summer when City have lost pillars on and off the pitch, the teenager arrives not just as another signing, but as a statement about what this new Manchester City intend to become.
