Manchester United in Talks with Juventus Over Zirkzee Loan

Manchester United are deep in negotiations with Juventus over a deal that could see Joshua Zirkzee leave Old Trafford on loan with an option to buy this summer.

The Italian club have moved quickly for the Dutch forward after their pursuit of Randal Kolo Muani collapsed, with The Sun reporting that Zirkzee has now emerged as a leading target in Turin. His representatives are understood to have responded positively to Juventus’ proposal, clearing a major hurdle in the talks.

United, for their part, appear ready to cut their losses. They are prepared to approve a loan with a £30 million option to buy, despite paying around £36.5 million to bring Zirkzee to the club in 2024. Inside the club, there is a feeling that the proposed fee reflects his current market value after a stuttering spell in Manchester.

The 25-year-old has drifted to the fringes of United’s plans. Across last season, under both Ruben Amorim and Michael Carrick, he started only five Premier League matches. For a player once viewed as a long-term attacking piece, that lack of trust told its own story.

Interest in Zirkzee is strong this summer, but Juventus have moved to the front of the queue. The Old Lady had been close to striking a deal with Paris Saint-Germain for France international Kolo Muani after his underwhelming loan stint at Tottenham. Talks broke down when the two clubs failed to agree on the financial terms, leaving Juventus without their preferred centre-forward solution.

The search did not last long. Zirkzee quickly became the alternative, a different profile but a realistic target, as Juventus look for a new focal point to lead their line.

His numbers at United underline why the club are willing to listen. Nine goals in 75 appearances is a modest return for a striker signed at significant cost, and he has never truly cemented himself as first choice. A fresh start now appeals to all parties.

For Zirkzee, a move to the Allianz Stadium would not mean stepping into the unknown. Italian football is familiar territory: he has already spent a season on loan at Parma and two seasons with Bologna, experiences that sharpened his game and built his reputation in Serie A.

Now, with Juventus pushing and United open to a deal, the next chapter of his career may again be written in Italy.
