Marc Casadó: Rising Midfielder Linked with Premier League Clubs
Marc Casadó is suddenly one of the most talked-about midfielders in England – and he hasn’t even kicked a ball in the Premier League yet.
The Barcelona youngster, long on the fringes at the Spotify Camp Nou, has drawn concrete interest from no fewer than five English clubs as he edges towards the exit under Hansi Flick.
Frozen out of the new coach’s plans, the 22-year-old has spent much of the summer linked with a move away from Catalonia, with offers and enquiries arriving from across Europe and beyond. For a while, Saudi Arabia looked like the most likely destination, the kind of lucrative route many out-of-favour stars have taken.
Casadó doesn’t see it that way.
He wants to stay in one of Europe’s top five leagues, to test himself at the highest level rather than cash in early. That stance has opened the door for the Premier League, and the response has been immediate.
According to Mundo Deportivo, citing English outlet TEAMtalk, several English clubs have already asked Barcelona about Casadó’s situation. One of them has stepped to the front of the queue.
Nottingham Forest Interest
Nottingham Forest are described as the most determined suitors right now, pushing hardest to bring the midfielder to the City Ground. Aston Villa, Newcastle United and Brighton are all in the conversation too, weighing up their options as they look to deepen their squads. Championship side Sunderland are also named among the clubs in the running, hoping the prospect of regular football could tempt him their way.
Barcelona, for their part, see an opportunity. With Flick not counting on Casadó, the Catalan giants are aiming to turn a homegrown asset into a significant transfer fee, and are understood to be hoping for around €40 million.
For a player yet to make his name on the biggest stage, it is a bold valuation. But in a market where young, versatile midfielders are gold dust and Premier League clubs are searching for the next undervalued gem, it only takes one club to bite.
If Forest decide he is their man, they will not be alone at the table.
