Napoli Pursues Marc Guiu to Reshape Attack
Napoli are pushing hard to drag Marc Guiu out of his Chelsea limbo and into the heart of their rebuild, with the Spanish teenager now sitting at the top of their striker shortlist in the final stretch of the window.
Sky Sport Italia report that the Partenopei are ready to table a permanent offer worth around €15–16 million, plus performance-related bonuses, to prise the 18-year-old away from Stamford Bridge. It is not a speculative late-window punt. Inside the club, Guiu is viewed as a piece for now and for what comes next.
This is a move driven by need as much as by vision. Massimiliano Allegri wants a new focal point to reshape an attack that has looked unconvincing and unbalanced, and Napoli’s hierarchy have zero interest in drifting through another season without a clear number nine. Guiu, a former La Masia product who joined Chelsea in 2024, has barely had a look-in in a swollen squad and has been stuck in what has been described as a kind of Stamford Bridge purgatory.
Napoli sense an opportunity.
Chelsea, though, face a delicate call. Keeping a highly rated young striker or cashing in to ease financial pressure and trim a bloated first-team group? The London club had initially set a price closer to £25 million, but the reality of the market, Napoli’s persistence and the player’s desire for regular minutes are all pushing this negotiation towards a middle ground.
As the deadline creeps closer, talks are expected to heat up. Both clubs want clarity; the player wants a pathway.
From Napoli’s side, the message is loud: they want a new leader of the line to drive their push for European places. The size of the bid reflects a strong belief that Guiu can cope quickly with Serie A’s tactical demands and physical edge, even at his age.
They are not alone in that assessment. Sevilla have tracked Guiu throughout the summer and had earmarked him as a key piece to round off their attack after the exits of several senior forwards, including Akor Adams and Alexis Sanchez. The Andalusians had initially hoped for a loan deal, pairing him with new signing Robbie Ure and spreading the responsibility.
Then Napoli arrived with money on the table.
That financial weight may simply push Sevilla out of the race, turning what they hoped would be a clever loan into a battle they cannot afford to fight.
Napoli, for their part, have not put all their hopes in one basket. Their scouting department has worked through a list of alternatives, some of them big Premier League names, to avoid being left short if Chelsea dig in or the numbers spiral. Earlier in the window, enquiries were made for Arsenal’s Gabriel Jesus and Manchester United’s recent arrival Joshua Zirkzee, though those potential moves sit in a different bracket entirely – complicated, expensive, and far from straightforward at this stage.
So the equation is clear. Napoli want Guiu as their new number nine. Chelsea must decide whether to gamble on his potential or bank the offer. And a teenager stuck between promise and game time waits to see which club will actually build an attack around him.
