Nottingham Forest Sign Daniel Munoz from Crystal Palace
Nottingham Forest have completed the signing of Daniel Munoz from Crystal Palace in a deal worth up to £22m, handing Oliver Glasner a familiar and trusted right flank presence at the City Ground.
The Colombia international arrives on a three-year contract, with Forest holding an option for a fourth, and reunites with Glasner after their successful spell together at Selhurst Park. Under the Austrian, Munoz became a key figure in Palace’s run to Conference League and FA Cup glory, his energy and aggression down the right turning him into one of the most effective wing-backs in the league.
Palace, though, were ready for this moment. The London club cleared the path for the 30-year-old’s departure by bringing in Anan Khalaili from Union Saint-Gilloise, banking a healthy profit on a player they signed from Genk for £8.5m as recently as January 2024.
Forest, fighting to sharpen their identity under Glasner, now have a wing-back who already knows the demands of the system and the manager’s standards. Palace walk away with money in the bank and their replacement already through the door.
No Henderson Exit as Palace Draw a Line
Forest’s business with Palace looks set to end there.
Reports last week linked the Midlands club with a move for Palace captain and goalkeeper Dean Henderson, but those hopes have been shut down. Club sources have made it clear Henderson will not be allowed to leave before the transfer deadline, with Palace determined to protect their spine and back new head coach Pierre Sage in the final days of the window.
Forest will have to look elsewhere for any late reshaping of their squad.
Forest Eye Forwards, Murphy on the Radar
Attention at the City Ground now turns to the front line. With Omari Hutchinson departing for AC Milan, Forest are in the market for attacking reinforcements and are weighing up a late move for Newcastle forward Jacob Murphy.
Newcastle have yet to receive a formal approach, but Forest interest earlier in the window is understood to have been genuine, with Everton also previously admiring the 29-year-old. Murphy’s situation is complicated by Newcastle’s own search for firepower, with the club looking at Lille’s Matias Fernandes Pardo and Stuttgart’s Bilal El Khannouss as they try to deepen their attacking options.
One outgoing from Forest is already on the table. Eintracht Frankfurt are in talks to re-sign Arnaud Kalimuendo on loan after the striker’s successful stint there in the second half of last season. The German side want another loan, this time potentially with an option to buy. Kalimuendo was left out of Forest’s matchday 18 for the 2-2 draw at Liverpool on Saturday, a clear sign his future is being actively discussed.
Not every move has come off. Forest’s proposed deal for Harrison Armstrong from Everton has collapsed, with the Everton board unanimous in their decision not to sell after receiving an approach.
The clock is ticking, and Forest’s forward department still feels one signing light.
Palace Shuffle the Pack Around Ahanor and Sarr
While Munoz heads north, Palace are busy reshaping the rest of their squad.
The club are close to an agreement with Atalanta for Honest Ahanor on a season-long loan. The plan is straightforward but intricate: Ahanor will join Palace for the campaign, before making a permanent switch to Chelsea next summer. Chelsea have been negotiating a permanent deal with Atalanta worth around £40m, but Premier League rules and current loan allocations mean he cannot move from Chelsea to Palace on loan, with Axel Disasi already at Selhurst Park under such terms.
On the exit front, Ismaila Sarr has made it clear he wants to leave before the deadline. Palace, though, are standing firm. The Senegal international is under contract until 2029 and the club insist he is not for sale.
Liverpool have tested that resolve with an approach over the past week. Sarr is one of several wide options under consideration at Anfield, alongside Brighton’s Yankuba Minteh, as Liverpool look to refresh their attacking depth. For now, Sarr remains a Palace player and has yet to feature this season, missing the first two games through injury.
The window closes at 11pm on Tuesday. Munoz is already through the door at Forest, Palace have their replacement lined up, and both clubs are still juggling late deals. The question now is who lands the final decisive signing before the shutters come down.
