David, 26, arrived in Turin on a free transfer from Lille OSC last summer but never truly settled or imposed himself. Under Luciano Spalletti, his opportunities have shrunk, and the message from Juventus is now clear: he is available.

That has alerted Paris FC, who suddenly find themselves lighter up front than expected. Willem Geubbels was moved on earlier in the summer and replaced by Lassine Sinayoko, a deal that was meant to refresh rather than overhaul the forward line.

Then came the real shock. Ciro Immobile, widely expected to go again for at least one more season, walked into the dressing room last month and informed his teammates he would retire. The decision ripped a chunk of experience and goals out of Liam Rosenior’s squad in an instant.

Paris FC now need more than just depth. They need a reference point in attack. David fits the profile: international pedigree with Canada, proven scoring instincts from his Lille days, and a point to prove after a difficult spell in Italy.

The French club are not alone, though. Atletico Madrid have also entered the frame, providing heavyweight competition for his signature.
