Queens Park Rangers' Promising Start: Caution Advised

Queens Park Rangers’ encouraging start has caught the eye, but one long-time observer is urging a dose of caution.

Ian McCullough, a QPR supporter and journalist, sees clear signs of progress, particularly in the depth of the squad, yet he believes it is far too early for Loftus Road to start dreaming.

“At Blackburn at the weekend, they won the game through the strength of the bench,” McCullough said, highlighting a decisive shift from last season. Players coming on now change games, not just fill shirts.

“They've got a real quality on the bench that they didn't have last season. In that kind of side the club has progressed.”

The optimism, though, comes with a warning label. McCullough pointed out that QPR’s early fixtures have been kind.

“As I keep saying with QPR, they've played three teams really that they should be beating – Blackburn, Portsmouth, Bolton,” he said. “Had they lost any of those games, questions would be asked.”

For now, the signs are positive: a stronger bench, a sharper edge, and results to match. The real measure will come when QPR face sides they are not “supposed” to beat.
