Ravens Suffer Defeat After Second-Half Surge by Gaels

Kingston, ON – For 45 minutes, Carleton looked in control. By the final whistle, they were staring at a 3-0 defeat and wondering how it all unraveled so fast.

The Ravens opened sharply under the lights, snapping into challenges and carving out early looks at goal. Xavier-Etienne Patry tested the Gaels backline first, followed in quick succession by efforts from Damiano Totten and Marek Achadinha as Carleton set the tone.

Then the game went quiet.

Carleton squeezed Queen's so effectively that the Gaels failed to register a shot in the opening half. The Ravens moved the ball, managed the tempo, and walked into halftime looking the more assured side.

Second Half

Ten minutes after the restart, everything flipped.

A foul in the box against Luke Harrop handed Queen's a lifeline. Damola Akanni stepped up to the spot and buried the penalty, swinging momentum in an instant.

The Ravens barely had time to reset before they were hit again. Isaac Molouba struck, and less than a minute later Sebastian Aguade added another, a brutal one-two punch that turned a tight contest into a 3-0 Gaels lead almost before Carleton could catch its breath.

From there, the Ravens chased the game.

In the final ten minutes, they pushed bodies forward, searching for any foothold. Achadinha rose well to meet a cross but saw his header fail to find the net. Adrijan Vrankovic carved out a chance of his own, only to watch it go begging as the clock drained away.

The damage from that frantic second-half spell proved decisive. A controlled first half, undone by a ruthless burst from Queen's.

Carleton won’t have much time to dwell on it. The Ravens are back on the road Sunday at 4:00 p.m., where Ontario Tech will offer the next test of how quickly this group can recover from a night that turned in the blink of an eye.
