Roma Explore Free-Agent Options: Zaha, Diatta, and Guerreiro

Roma closed the summer window without delivering the left-sided reinforcement Gian Piero Gasperini had requested, and the club have turned to the pool of free agents for a late solution. The strategy is cautious: move only if a genuine opportunity appears, one that fits the coach’s tactical demands rather than simply filling a gap.

According to Gazzetta dello Sport, Wilfried Zaha has re-entered the frame. The Ivorian winger came close to joining Roma in 2023 and is now unattached after his most recent spell, leaving the door open to a free transfer. His profile – direct, aggressive, capable of playing wide and attacking space – ticks several of the boxes Gasperini wants on the flank.

Zaha is not the only name on the list. Krépin Diatta is also under consideration, with the Senegal international currently without a club following his last season at Monaco. His versatility across the wing and attacking midfield could appeal to a coach who demands intensity and flexibility from his wide players.

Another solution carries a different flavour. Raphael Guerreiro, 32, is available after his stint at Bayern Munich and represents a more traditional left-sided option. Comfortable at full-back or higher up the pitch, the Portuguese would bring experience and refined technique to the left flank, offering Roma a more structured outlet on that side.

For now, the club watch and wait. Atalanta are next, the season is already moving quickly, and Roma must decide whether to trust what they have on the left – or dive back into the market for one last, decisive piece.
