Ryan Ledson Receives Three-Match Ban and Fine for Misconduct
Huddersfield Town captain Ryan Ledson has been hit with a three-match ban and a £7,000 fine after admitting misconduct towards a match official.
The Football Association sanction follows incidents around the tunnel area during and after Town’s 2-2 draw with Sheffield Wednesday on 10 October. Ledson, who was not part of the matchday squad that night, was alleged to have used abusive and/or insulting language towards the official at half-time and again following the final whistle. He accepted the charge.
For a player already battling to get back on the pitch, the timing could hardly be worse. The 29-year-old midfielder has started six League One games for the Terriers this season but has not featured since 12 September because of an elbow injury. Just as he returned to training and edged closer to selection, the ban arrived.
Upcoming Fixtures
Huddersfield must now plan without their captain for three fixtures: league games against Wigan Athletic and Luton Town, and a meeting with Bradford City. An enforced absence, at the very moment he hoped to reassert his influence, leaves a simple question hanging over the next few weeks at the John Smith’s Stadium: who steps up to lead in his place?
