Ryan Ledson Receives Three-Match Ban and Fine for Misconduct

Huddersfield Town captain Ryan Ledson has been hit with a three-match ban and a £7,000 fine after admitting a misconduct charge brought by the Football Association.

The midfielder was found to have used abusive and/or insulting language towards a match official in the tunnel area both at half-time and after the final whistle of Town’s 2-2 draw with Sheffield Wednesday on 10 October. Ledson was not in the matchday squad that night, but his actions off the pitch have now drawn a firm response from the authorities.

For Huddersfield, the timing is awkward. The 29-year-old had only just returned to training after an elbow injury that has kept him out since 12 September. He has made six League One starts this season and was edging back towards contention, a senior figure ready to rejoin a squad trying to steady its form.

Instead, the club captain will now sit out three games: league fixtures against Wigan Athletic and Luton Town, and the meeting with Bradford City. A player brought in to set standards in the middle of the pitch will spend the next fortnight watching from the stands, his absence felt not through a fresh knock, but through a moment that spilled over in the tunnel.
