Sacha Boey's Future at Bayern Munich: Vincent Kompany's Support

Vincent Kompany has drawn a firm line under Sacha Boey’s turbulent summer at Bayern Munich, backing the French full-back after a move away failed to materialise.

Bayern spent the window trying to offload Boey, but no acceptable offer arrived before the deadline. The market closed. Boey stayed. Now he has a coach publicly putting an arm around him – and a warning in the same breath.

“Now the transfer window is closed, and Sacha is part of our team and has our support,” Kompany said at his press conference. “My role now is that he performs.”

The message was clear: the shop window is shut; the competition is not.

Because Boey is returning to a crowded right-back lane. Josip Stanišić is back and trusted. Konrad Laimer is already a proven option there. Kompany did not hide the reality.

“We have Josip Stanišić and Konrad Laimer in the position, and competition is already fierce,” he stressed.

“You need patience and hard work,” Kompany said. “But anything can happen in football if you have the right attitude.”

For now, Bayern’s stance is to strip away the transfer noise and treat Boey like any other squad member. No exile. No drama. Just training and a chance to claw his way into the picture.

“We're simply treating him with respect. He's training very well at the moment, and everything else will fall into place,” Kompany added.

“What I've seen working with Max Eberl and Christoph Freund is that the club is clear and straightforward; also in dealings with players,” he explained. “It's not always pleasant for the player, but you also gain a lot of respect from the players when you speak to them clearly and honestly.”
