San Diego FC Signs Veteran Striker Cedric to Boost Attack

San Diego FC have moved to sharpen their attack with the signing of veteran Congolese striker Cedric, a move the club believes will inject both goals and gravitas into their inaugural project.

Sporting director Tyler Heaps did not hold back in his assessment of the new arrival, hailing the forward’s pedigree in an official club announcement.

“Cedric brings an incredible level of experience and proven quality to San Diego FC,” Heaps said, framing the deal as a statement of intent from the expansion side. He stressed that this is not a gamble on reputation, but a signing built on years of end product at the sharp end of elite football.

“He has built an outstanding career competing at the highest levels in Europe and internationally, and his ability to consistently find the back of the net has been a defining part of his game,” Heaps continued. “He understands what it takes to perform on the biggest stages and brings a winning mentality that will be extremely valuable to our group.”

The numbers back him up. Since breaking through at Sochaux, Cedric has piled up 191 goals and 49 assists across 492 club appearances, a body of work assembled in some of the game’s most demanding environments. Spells with Villarreal, Marseille, Olympiacos, and Galatasaray have tested him in different leagues, different systems, and under constant pressure to deliver.

He has carried that threat onto the international stage as well. For DR Congo, Cedric has scored 21 times in 72 caps and featured in four Africa Cup of Nations tournaments, giving San Diego a player who knows the rhythms and intensity of major competitions.

For a new club trying to build an identity, that kind of experience matters. Heaps underlined the human side of the move too, as San Diego aims to create a core that can grow together on and off the pitch.

The signing also reshapes the dynamics of an already intriguing attack. Cedric joins a frontline that includes Anders Dreyer, Marcus Ingvartsen, and fellow 2026 World Cup forward Elias Achouri. That quartet offers a blend of profiles: movement, creativity, physical presence, and now a seasoned finisher with a long track record of producing when it matters.
