Serhou Guirassy Celebrates 100 Games for Dortmund

Serhou Guirassy reached his century in Dortmund colours almost by surprise.

"I'm very, very happy to have played a hundred games for Dortmund – I didn't even realize that," said the 30-year-old forward, who arrived from VfB Stuttgart in the summer of 2024.

A hundred competitive matches in just over two years for BVB tell the story of a striker who is always available, always in the firing line. That workload underlines his resilience, and the numbers in front of goal complete the picture: Guirassy has turned that consistency into a relentless scoring rhythm.

The latest chapter came in the 3-2 home win over Villarreal CF. Under the lights, in a game that swung back and forth, Guirassy again found the decisive edge, scoring his 63rd and 64th goals in a Dortmund shirt. Two more finishes, two more reminders of his ruthless accuracy inside the box.

Those figures place him in rare company at the club. Only Erling Haaland, with a staggering 86 goals in 89 competitive appearances for the Black & Yellow, has produced a more explosive haul over a similar span in recent years. Go back further and the comparison lands on another legendary goalscorer: Lothar Emmerich, who struck 64 times in his first 100 Bundesliga matches for Borussia Dortmund.

Guirassy has now matched that Emmerich milestone in terms of league goals over his first century of outings, while continuing to climb the club’s all-time charts. In the Champions League, only Marco Reus currently stands ahead of him in Dortmund’s scoring ranks.

For a player who “didn’t even realize” he had hit 100 games, the numbers leave little doubt: Guirassy is writing his name into BVB history at full speed.
