Serhou Guirassy Celebrates 100 Matches for Dortmund
Serhou Guirassy needed a moment to process it all.
"I'm very, very happy to have played 100 matches for Dortmund. I didn't even know that," said the 30-year-old striker, still half-surprised by the milestone he had just crossed.
He only arrived from VfB Stuttgart in the summer of 2024. Just over two years later, he has already crashed through the 100-game barrier for BVB – a figure that speaks to his durability, but even more to his ruthless edge in front of goal.
Against Villarreal CF, in a wild 3-2 home win, Guirassy added another chapter to his Dortmund story. Two more goals. Numbers 63 and 64 in black and yellow. The net keeps shaking, the numbers keep climbing.
Only one man has ever started faster for Dortmund: Erling Haaland. The Norwegian phenomenon hit 86 goals in just 89 competitive games. Lothar Emmerich, another club legend, also reached 64 goals in his first 100 Bundesliga appearances for Borussia Dortmund. Guirassy now stands shoulder to shoulder with that company.
And his scoring spree is not limited to domestic competition.
Climbing the Champions League ladder
On the European stage, Guirassy has moved past one of the club’s most iconic No. 9s. With his brace against Villarreal, he overtook Robert Lewandowski in Dortmund’s all-time Champions League scoring charts.
Lewandowski struck 17 times in 28 matches for BVB in Europe’s elite competition. Guirassy, in only his 25th Champions League outing for the club, now sits on 19.
Only Marco Reus remains ahead of him. The long-time captain has 24 goals in the Champions League for Dortmund, collected across 72 matches. The gap is shrinking.
"Of course, it's something very special to break Lewandowski's record, because he is a great striker," Guirassy told Prime. The respect in his voice matched the scale of the name he had just surpassed.
The night itself? Anything but straightforward.
"It was a strange match tonight," Guirassy admitted after the 3-2 win over Villarreal, calling it "a crazy game." Dortmund wobbled, then responded, then held on. "We could have done better, but we're happy with the win."
The numbers say he is already in elite territory. The way he is scoring, the next records are already in sight.
