Sevilla’s transfer window is turning into a late scramble, and Ellyes Skhiri has just been dragged into the storm.
The Tunisia international, currently on the fringes at Eintracht Frankfurt, has emerged as a live option for the Andalusian club as they juggle multiple needs and a shrinking calendar. His situation in Germany is clear: Frankfurt want him out before his contract runs down next summer.
A Midfield Piece in a Bigger Puzzle
In Spain, "Marca" report that Sevilla are working on several fronts at once in the final stretch of the window. The headline priority is obvious: a pure No 9. Negotiations continue for Ruben Vargas, with the club determined to put a new striker in place before La Liga kicks off.
But the squad surgery does not stop there.
German outlets link Sevilla with Skhiri, who now looks like a genuine candidate to depart Frankfurt. "Sky Sport Germany" state that the Bundesliga side have effectively frozen him out after reinforcing their midfield with Rafael Onyedika. With numbers swollen in the middle of the park, Frankfurt are trimming, and Skhiri sits near the exit door.
Sevilla, meanwhile, are already in talks to bring in Giorgi Kochorashvili for midfield. Skhiri is viewed as a complementary piece rather than the centrepiece of that rebuild, a player who could add depth, legs and experience behind or alongside the Georgian.

Skhiri is not an unknown quantity. He anchored Tunisia’s midfield at the last World Cup, starting all three group-stage matches and showcasing the work rate and tactical discipline that have long made him a coach’s favourite.
That profile fits a club like Sevilla, who have often built their best sides on a blend of technical flair and relentless workers in the engine room. If the deal advances, they would be acquiring a player ready to step straight into high-intensity football, rather than a long-term project.
For Frankfurt, his World Cup pedigree only underlines the logic: this is a saleable asset they do not want to lose for free in a year’s time.
