Brandt strikes, Fortuna bite back

"I'm happy for the performance, the goal, and the assist," he told ESPN NL. "But the most important thing is that the team won. We had to work hard until we opened up the game, and then in the end it looked like a comfortable win."
His night was not without a scare. Having played only eight minutes off the bench the previous week, he took a heavy knock late in the first half that briefly raised concerns. He brushed it aside.
"It was just painful, but nothing to worry about," he said, shifting the focus quickly back to the collective. For him, the real work lies in the details of the backline.
"In the end, it is about communication and giving each other the best instructions to defend together and adjust positions. It's all in a positive way to perform."
Building a backbone
That message matters for an Ajax side desperate for defensive stability. With Kehrer settling quickly into his role, there is a sense that the backline finally has a clearer voice and a firmer structure.
The scoreline in Sittard was emphatic, but inside the camp the emphasis remains on standards, not celebration. Kehrer made it clear that the group cannot ease off, even after a four-goal margin.
