Tottenham's £145m Attack: De Zerbi Praises Sávio and Marmoush
Tottenham have gone all‑in on firepower – and Roberto De Zerbi could barely hide his excitement.
Spurs completed a stunning double move for Sávio and Omar Marmoush this week, a combined outlay that underlines just how aggressively the club are backing their new head coach. Sávio arrives in an £85 million package from Manchester City, while Marmoush joins on a season-long loan that includes an obligation to buy which could reach £60m.
Those two deals alone would be headline news in most summers. At Tottenham, they are simply the latest pieces in a sprawling rebuild that has now pushed the club’s total spend past £350m in this window.
‘Bomba’ arrivals
De Zerbi, speaking ahead of Saturday’s Premier League clash with Newcastle, lit up when asked about his new forwards.
“I think Sávio and Marmoush are bomba,” he said. “I don't know what name or how you can call them but players of a high level, for sure.”
It was the language of a coach who believes he finally has the kind of weapons he craves. Sávio brings directness, flair and a goal threat from wide areas; Marmoush offers something more rugged and ruthless through the middle.
For De Zerbi, it is not just about adding names. It is about variety, unpredictability, the ability to hurt opponents in different ways. His choice of word – “bomba” – felt deliberate. These are signings meant to explode games open.

You might think that level of spending would close the door on any more business. De Zerbi does not see it that way.
Despite a frantic window, he confirmed that Tottenham are still actively searching for at least one more signing before Tuesday night’s deadline.
“I didn't expect one transfer market and one window like we have done,” he admitted.
“I think we can do one player more and in one specific position, but yesterday we went for dinner with the owners, with Vinai [Venkatesham], with Johan [Lange] and with Enrico [Venturelli]. We spoke about this, but we have all of us on the same page and there is a very good connection.”
That dinner matters. It signals alignment at the top of the club: the owners, the football executives and the head coach moving in step. De Zerbi has pushed for a squad that fits his high-intensity, high-risk style. Tottenham have responded with chequebook and conviction.
Now, he wants one final piece.
Marmoush brings goals – and urgency
If Sávio is the statement fee, Marmoush is the statement profile.
The Egyptian arrives with serious numbers behind him: 37 goals during his time at Eintracht Frankfurt and 16 at Manchester City. Those returns give Spurs a forward who knows how to live inside the box but can also stretch defences and run channels.
He is not a luxury option. He is essential cover and competition at a time when James Maddison is not fully fit and Mohammed Kudus is only just returning from injury.
“A great signing for us. A great player, another great player and every one of us loves him as a player,” De Zerbi said of Marmoush.
“We hope he can do what he is able. I think he can give more solutions in attack. We need players in attack capable to score goals, to play well with the ball also, a very fast player, great qualities and we are all happy.”
The message is clear: this is not about stockpiling forwards. It is about arming a system that demands constant movement, constant threat.
A new-look Spurs attack
With Sávio’s explosive wing play and Marmoush’s penalty-box instincts, De Zerbi suddenly has options that Tottenham have lacked in recent seasons. He can rotate. He can change shape. He can bench big names without blunting the attack.
The spending will invite scrutiny if results stall. For now, though, Spurs have given their manager what he asked for: pace, goals and depth in the final third.
