Tottenham Secures Savinho in £75m Deal as Marmoush Talks Progress
Tottenham have finally landed their man. After more than a year of chasing Savinho, Spurs have agreed a £75m deal with Manchester City for the Brazilian winger, with a further £10m tied to performance-related add-ons.
The 22-year-old will undergo a medical before signing what is expected to be a long-term contract in north London, closing the door on a move that slipped away last summer when he chose to stay at Etihad Stadium. That decision did not pay off in minutes: Savinho managed just seven Premier League starts under Pep Guardiola last season.
Now he becomes the headline act in a major attacking rebuild under Roberto de Zerbi.
De Zerbi’s next move: Marmoush talks ‘progressing positively’
Tottenham have already poured a combined £185m into their midfield with the arrivals of Mateus Fernandes from West Ham and Sandro Tonali from Newcastle. De Zerbi’s attention has shifted higher up the pitch.
Sources indicate discussions over a deal for Omar Marmoush, Savinho’s team-mate at City, are “progressing positively”. The Egypt forward joined City from Eintracht Frankfurt in 2025 for £59m but slipped down the pecking order last season, opening the door for Spurs to make a move.
Tottenham’s interest does not stop there. Cody Gakpo remains on their radar, with the Liverpool and Netherlands forward viewed as another potential attacking option. The question is whether Spurs can realistically finance Marmoush, Savinho and Gakpo in the same window. At this stage, that remains unclear.
Liverpool test Brighton’s resolve over Minteh
At Anfield, the search to replace Mohamed Salah has properly started to bite. Liverpool have seen a £50m bid rejected by Brighton for winger Yankuba Minteh.
The 22-year-old Gambia international has been a steady contributor for the Seagulls, scoring 10 goals and supplying nine assists in 73 appearances. Brighton signed him from Newcastle in 2024 for £30m and, with Minteh primarily operating off the right, his profile naturally appeals to new Reds boss Andoni Iraola.
Minteh is currently sidelined with a leg injury picked up in a friendly against Roma earlier this month, but that has not cooled Liverpool’s interest. Strengthening wide attacking areas is the clear priority for Iraola, and Liverpool are expected to keep probing the market after Brighton’s firm first response.
Villa reshaping defence as Konsa nears Arsenal and Harwood-Bellis bid rebuffed
Aston Villa are braced for change at the back. Ezri Konsa underwent a medical at Arsenal on Thursday ahead of a move worth in excess of £50m, a deal that would hand Mikel Arteta another powerful option in central defence.
Villa have already started working on replacements. Their opening bid for Southampton’s Taylor Harwood-Bellis – worth around £18m plus add-ons – has been rejected. The 22-year-old defender has been with Saints since 2023, initially on loan, and owns a single England cap from a 2024 Nations League match against Republic of Ireland.
Southampton, who finished fourth in the Championship last season before the Spygate scandal wrecked their play-off hopes, are understood to be seeking closer to £25m for Harwood-Bellis. Villa must now decide whether to push closer to that valuation as the Konsa deal edges towards completion.
European moves: Jones to Inter, Reijnders heads to Saudi Arabia
The Premier League’s transfer ripple is being felt across Europe.
Inter Milan have agreed a £30m fee with Liverpool for England midfielder Curtis Jones. The 23-year-old is set for a new chapter in Serie A after gradually forcing his way into Liverpool’s midfield picture in recent seasons.
Tijjani Reijnders, meanwhile, has completed a £52m move from Manchester City to Saudi Arabian side Al-Qadsiah. City’s midfield reshuffle continues apace, with Reijnders’ exit adding to the churn in Guardiola’s engine room.
Premier League curtain rises as Arsenal host Coventry
All of this plays out against the backdrop of a new Premier League season.
Gameweek one begins tonight, with defending champions Arsenal welcoming Coventry back to the top flight in the opening fixture of the campaign. News conferences will dominate the day before attention switches to the first whistle – and to how these transfer stories reshape the early weeks.
Tottenham have made their statement with Savinho. The next few days will reveal whether Marmoush, Gakpo and the rest of this cast follow, or whether this window still has a late twist waiting in the final third.
