Valencia in Talks with Liverpool for Harvey Elliott Loan

Valencia are in talks with Liverpool over a loan move for midfielder Harvey Elliott until the end of the season, as the Spanish club push to strengthen before the window shuts.

The 23-year-old, who spent last season on loan at Aston Villa, struggled for minutes in the Premier League, starting just once in the league during his spell in Birmingham. Now another opportunity abroad is on the table, but this time in La Liga.

Valencia, who finished ninth in Spain’s top flight last season and missed out on European qualification, have been exploring how to structure a deal that fits their financial limits. They are pushing for Liverpool to pay around half of Elliott’s wages to make the move viable.

Under new head coach Andoni Iraola, Elliott saw plenty of action in pre-season and appeared to be part of Liverpool’s early plans. Then the competitive games arrived. He has been left out of the squad for both of Liverpool’s opening Premier League fixtures, a clear sign that his immediate pathway to regular minutes at Anfield is blocked.

The clock is now very real. La Liga’s transfer window closes on Tuesday at 23:00 BST. If Valencia and Liverpool can close the financial gap in time, Elliott’s next chapter could be written in Spain. If they cannot, he faces the prospect of fighting for scraps of game time in a packed Liverpool midfield.
