Wolves Transfer Window Analysis: Surprising Squad Changes

Wolves’ transfer window has left plenty to talk about – and not all of it matches what supporters thought was coming.

On BBC Radio WM, commentator Mike Taylor sat down with former Wolves striker David Kelly to pick apart the club’s summer business, with the size and balance of the squad dominating the debate. Numbers are not the issue. Wolves have bodies. The question is whether they have the right kind of know-how for the slog of a Championship season and a serious promotion push.

Taylor did not hide his surprise at how the squad has taken shape.

“This might be a promotion squad – the only thing that we can say for the moment, is it is not what we were anticipating,” he said, underlining the sense that the window has veered away from the script many expected at Molineux.

He stressed that an unfamiliar plan does not automatically mean a flawed one.

“That doesn't mean it will necessarily be bad. We'll know that in a few weeks, but it is not what we were expecting. It just isn't.”
